I think I have to admit that my favourite kind of shoot is definately the newborn shoot, that’s not to say say that I don’t enjoy all the other kinds of photoshoots but there is something about the innocence of a newborn that makes me think ‘wow’.

I was recently commissioned to do a shoot for a gorgeous little newborn girl called Isabella. At only 10 days old she had beautiful clear skin and was gorgeously sleepy, the perfect combination for those beautiful newborn shots. New parents Jon and Emma were great, very relaxed and happy for me to handle their new arrival. The sun shone which meant we could make use of the natural daylight available although we did have a little help with one light and softbox. After a couple of hours of shooting, feeding, and time outs I was happy with the shots I’d gotten and left the sleepy Bella with her parents. I was really looking forward to editing this shoot and was over the moon with the results. Thankfully, so were Jon and Emma.

Horses, I wouldn’t say I was afraid of them but I have a healthy respect shall we say and this respect was put to the test when I was asked to do a shoot for The George family from Bradenstoke including their two horses!
After the shoot being delayed earlier in the year due to the good old British weather we finally managed to snag a beautiful sunny day in July. The location was simply stunning with the most amazing views over Wiltshire from the back garden. As the two horses were brought out into the sunshine from their stables – my first impression was ‘they’re quite big’! Taking a small step backwards I was reassured by Leoni that they were really gentle and wouldn’t harm a fly. She was right. They were beautiful, graceful and did exactly as they were bid.  After 10 minutes of shooting I was thoroughly enjoying myself and not even thinking twice about the fact that I was only a few feet away from them. It was a fantastic shoot, blessed with the weather and it has certainly relaxed me when it comes to horses.

21st July, 2012, Henleaze, Bristol

I just love taking photos. After all that’s why I do what I do! And photographing young families has to be a favourite. I recently had the absolute pleasure of doing a shoot for a young Bristol family. After meeting me at the Love Baby Festival Anna commissioned me to take a series of photos of herself, husband Mat and 8 month old baby Oliver. A gorgeous sunny day allowed us to venture outside after doing some indoor shots and a happy patient Oliver made my job an easy one. Here’s just a few of the shots taken.

25th May, 2012, Hartnoll Hotel, Tiverton, Devon

We all love a good wedding and I was lucky enough to shoot the recent wedding of close friends Cliff & Jayne on the 25th May 2012. What can I say apart from what a fantastic day! The weather was glorious, the location was beautiful and the wedding was certainly one to remember.

After a rather hot drive down the M5 I arrived at Hartnoll Hotel near Tiverton around midday. A gorgeous little place set amongst the rolling Devon hills. Lush green countryside made for some beautiful colours in the sunshine. I found the groom in the hotel grounds, very calm and enjoying the sun, waiting for the nuptials to begin. The chocolate brown and ivory colour scheme gave a sophisticated feel to the whole day with Jayne’s bouquet of orange tulips and ivory roses setting it off perfectly.

The ceremony room itself presented me with one small issue in the form of a huge skylight dividing the room into shade and harsh bright sunlight but this was soon overcome by a change in shutter speed and aperture.

After the ceremony guests spilled out into the gardens to soak up the afternoon sun and enjoy a glass of Pimms before the wedding breakfast. Relaxed and smiling, Cliff and Jayne emerged into the garden to claps and cheers of congratulations. Fish and chips added the british touch to the meal and as the evening approached the sun still shone and the dancing began.

I don’t think I’ve ever done such a glorious shoot. The whole day was a series of smiles, laughter and chinking glasses. The perfect day for the perfect couple.
